The causes of IBS are unknown and symptoms range in severity from occasional mild episode to a debilitating, life-altering illness which prevents the individual from working or from functioning normally. IBS is a frustrating chronic illness characterized by a set of complex gastrointestinal symptoms including diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating and spasms. . This condition affects around one in four of the general population at some time in their lives. The symptoms are exacerbated by stress, change in diet and changes in daily routine, among with many other things.
Conventional medical treatment includes a variety of medications, a high fibre diet, fibre supplements and behavioural changes. The behavioural changes include exercise, stress reduction and dietary changes. Unfortunately, this regime has not been proven adequately effective for a high percentage of sufferers. In addition, many people find the side effects of the medications to be more noxious than the IBS Symptoms.
However, hypnotherapy has been proven highly effective in alleviating IBS symptoms. Over 15 years of solid scientific research has demonstrated hypnotherapy as an effective, safe and inexpensive choice for IBS symptom alleviation. Hypnotherapy routinely produces positive results in over 80% of the people who use it.
This is a program done in conjunction with your GP and is not intended as a replacement for traditional medical treatment. Conventional medical treatment has been inadequate in alleviating IBS symptoms for most people. However, hypnotherapy combined with traditional medical treatment can provide dramatic relief for most sufferers. Many clients with the help of their GP's are able to reduce or eliminate most of the medications are taking for IBS symptoms.
